Atwood G10-3E 10-Gallon Gas+Electric RV Water Heater

The Atwood G10-3E is one of the dominant 10-gallon RV water heaters in the US market, designed for larger motorhomes and travel trailers. "G10A" identifies the 10-gallon Atwood gas water heater family; "3E" indicates dual-energy operation (gas + 120V AC electric). Atwood was acquired by Dometic in 2014 — current production carries Dometic branding but Atwood-badged units remain in service through 2030s.

Specs: 10 gallons stored, 12,000 BTU propane burner, 1500W electric element, recovery rate ~17 gph on propane or 6 gph on electric (both modes simultaneously for fastest recovery). Aluminum tank with optional anode rod. 12V DC ignition control.

The 10-gallon Atwood is common in mid-large RVs (travel trailers 30-35 ft, fifth wheels with multiple bedrooms). Aluminum tank is Atwood's distinguishing engineering choice versus Suburban's porcelain-lined steel — aluminum doesn't rust from inside, but failure mode is electrochemical corrosion at dissimilar-metal joints.

Replacement: drops directly into existing Atwood G10A cutouts. The current production Dometic GC10A-4E is the direct replacement model. Suburban SW10DE requires minor trim adjustments due to slightly different mounting flange dimensions.

About $550 for replacement unit, $250-$400 installed. Parts widely available through Camping World and RV-specific suppliers.
